That would have to be the most stunning flower photo I have ever seen, from the colour, the light, the sharpness.Just beautiful. LOVE IT!!!

I have one that flowers this same color, and I’m always intrigued by the delicate and intricate centers. Your photo captures the beauty and interest so well. Wonderful! The other thing I love about these blossoms is the shimmer to their petals, like metallic velvet, but I’ve never been able to capture that in a photo. Any ideas?
Thank you, Sheri. I think a good macro lens and natural light are essential for photographing cactus flowers. Your mention of their shimmer has me thinking about the many shots I’ve taken; I’m going to go back through them and see if I can find any with it.
Lovely essence of a delicate flower.

Wow, this is fabulous! Is this the way the flower was facing or did you twist the picture around? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) 🙂

Thanks! I didn’t touch the plant or the picture, but I did have to crouch to take the shot from beneath the flower.

Great shot. Is this the same November flower? It seems full red and the other magenta.

Thanks Luiz — yes, it’s the same plant. The flowers are indeed red as they open and only the pistil retains its vibrant fuchsia color.
