This morning we had a visit from this red-tailed hawk, who has been hanging around Rittenhouse Square. He (I think it’s a young male) may be related to the pair who nested for several years at Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute:

A very lovely shot. Looks like he came for lunch.

Great shot. Nice that he posed for you.
Our neighborhood Coopers Hawk is fun to watch. Once in a while he will come within feet of the house near the bird feeder (suburban type neighborhood) but it is hard to get a picture before he flies off. Sometimes I think I’m setting the table for him. I’ve watched him successfully and unsuccessfully chase for lunch.

This is fantastic Rona. Such a wonderful visitor you had. I think you need to start leaving him breakfast out the window for him to come back often.

That is crazy. I would love to see a hawk that close up. So he just hangs around your window? Yeah…i’m super envious;)

A friend of mine in the blogosphere, Rona Black captured this shot of a Red-Tailed hawk. He apparently likes hanging out on the ledge of her office. JEALOUS! 😀

How lucky! People go places just to see eagles, and you get visited by one! So unfair of you. 😀 Very nice catch too with that pose!

Thank you, Tracey. Yes, was such a wonderful surprise; the only problem was that I waited in vain for him to return at least once during our stay.

I can imagine the anticipation but you were lucky to have the experience and to have captured it forever!
